Mounts Moanda and Boudinga are important sites in the Nzebi and Awandji people mythology.
Among the Nzebi, Moanda and Boudinga were twins: Moanda the boy and Boudinga the girl.
Moanda and Boudinga are the eldest of all the Nzebi.
They were responsible for the migration of the entire people.
Moanda led one part of the people, and Boudinga guided the other.
It was while guiding a portion of the people to the heights of a mountain that opened onto new horizons that the people decided to name this mountain after their guide, Boudinga.
At the same time, and shortly afterward, Moanda the boy crossed over to the other mountain, which was also named after him.
Thus, Moanda and Boudinga became the twin mountains that overlook the Nzebi country.
And it was from Moanda and Boudinga that the Nzebi people spread across the territories recognized as theirs today.
